Falcon blow molding capability gets boost

from PLASTICS NEWS, March 8 1999

Falcon Plastics Inc, is spending about $1 million to expand and emphasize large-part blow molding, the Washington, PA. firm announced Feb. 17.

Falcon sales director Jason DiNardo said his firm converted a 15-pound Hartig twin blow molding machine to a 25-pounder earlier this month and in late April expects to install a 70-pound Sterling blow molder.

Falcon's previous blow molding machine range was up to 20 pounds. DiNardo said his firm is evaluating its 28 blow molders and will sell those that don't fit its large-part programs.  He would not specify what new large-part products it plans to mold but he said a major customer is sister company Grand Venture of Washington, PA. Grand Venture is a marketing company for outdoor seasonal products such as Halloween and Christmas decorations.

DiNardo added that Falcon also is expanding and upgrading its decorating department by adding a new paint line and new paint sprayers.  Nearly all Grand Venture products need decorating.

Falcon started blow molding in Washington last summer after it acquired assets of bankrupt Mac Plastics Inc.  DiNardo predicted Falcon will have sales of $8 million to $9 million this year.  It now employs 87 full time.  It recently appointed Bob Delach as president.
